Unhappy a problem to install intel 865G linux driver

X-server can be activated before intel 865G linux driver is installed. However, color depth still can NOT be set to 24 bit when video card memory is switched to 8M from 1M in BIOS.

Therefore, I try to install intel 865G driver for linux but i can not do it successfully. The problem is following. (Note, kernel2.6.7 updated from 2.4.18)

[root@localhost root]#./install.sh
compiling new agpgart module...
compiling DRM module...

Error:kernel module did not complile

The DRI drivers can not be installed without the latest kernel modules

what can i do? thank you.
