A cheap redhat 8 compatible ide raid controller?

Looking for suggestions on a cheaper end IDE raid controller to run 4 6Gig drives from.

Everything I find doesn't seem to say it's Linux compatible. I've never owed a IDE paid controller so I am a little confused. I thought these controllers handled everything at the hardware level.

I take it that I am incorrect and drivers must also be installed?

Any 3ware 8-port ide raid controllers from ebay will suite you nicely.
search ebay for "3ware* 8*port"....I think they average $40.

(The 5800 series controllers will require a bios update from 3ware).

These are HARDWARE raid controllers, and do not require any OS drivers.

I prefer Hitachi/IBM drives, I would recommend some compatibility searches to insure you don't encounter any issues w/your 6GB drives.

Yeah, those should work. I just didn't want to start getting into the hundreds of dollars range.
