Question What IDE controller for RAID 1?

Hi,

I’m setting up an internet/file server with two 120GB drives in Raid 1. I have searched the web for help and at this part im stuck!

What IDE controller should i put the drives on? Yes i no its best to put them as master on each IDE controller encase one controller dies, but i need to put a CD-Rom drive in as well. I have heard that if i put a CD-Rom and HDD on the same controller the CD-Rom slows the HDD down a lot! I would like to get as much speed out of it as i can (i no RAID 1 is not best for speed, but that’s what i wont to uses).

So guys, what do you think and what would you do?

Thanks Tim
