845patch problems

I have an inspiron 1100 with the 845 intel video that causes problems with linux. I am running suse 9.

I have found the 845patch and have tried to use it. I can run the patch manually and it wil work, but as soon as I boot it goes back to the small screen size.

I have followed the instructions on the websites and the forums, but it still will not boot with fullscreen.

Thanks.

I have the same problem on an IBM NetVista with intel 845 video card with redhat 9 kernel 2.6.1. and XFree86 4.3.0
With kernel 2.4 it works without patch
