I have just installed SuSE 6.2 and I am having problems with my ESS 1868 Audiodrive soundcard, my NIC and my modem.

I have read other threads dealing with these problems but I am a newbie of the highest order and had some difficulty understanding the solutions set out. The things I did try out e.g. /usr/sbin/sndconfig didn't work (no such dir as sndconfig).

I need:
1. someone to help me
2. someone to explain it so a village idiot like me can understand
