3rd Party graphics card drivers

I have a Visiontek Xtasy 9100 (Powered by ATI) video card, and 3D games like Chromium and TuxRacer are very slow. (2D performance is fine though). I know I need drivers, so I went to schneider-digital.de and got the FireGLX1. When I try to install it though, it gives me an error about my card being a 3rd party board. Then when I restart X, I get an error saying that it can't start, and lets me reconfigure everything (without 3D support). One other thing I tried earlier wan checking "Enable Hardware 3D acceleration" in the configuration dialog, but when I restarted X, my screen went blank and I ended up taking out the card and putting it in.

This card is replacing my integrated 8MB graphics, and I am running RedHat 9. Any help is much appreciated.

Noboby?

Would the 8500 drivers from ATI's site work? Also, does it matter if I install drivers from inside a GUI or from text-mode?
