i just installed slackware 8.0 today for the first time. i need help setting up xfree86. when i login as root and type startx it says, "no screens found" please help me. thanks in advance.
by default, slackware doesn't configure X.. you'll have to configure it by issuing this command.. : xf86config
then after configuring it, you should be able to start the X server with startx
cool, i went through the configuration and afterward typed startx but i got an error. how can i set it up for a geforce 3? closest option to my nvidia geforce3 was the nvidia geforce.
Your version of XFREE86 does not support 3. I have same problem. Ended up choosing geforce DDR. Am in process of installing XFREE86 4.something so I can use the 3.
