xfce4 loggin problem

I am on a sarge base system with a xfce4 interface, wich i installed recently.

I was playing recently with apt-get mirror. and it may change something.
when i try to connect into the xwindow as user, starts over the x tty, asking me for name and passwd again.
If i log as root, it works fine, i get through.

Thereafter, i would like to be told what is the basic configuration, or structure, when you loggin the x interface.
how linux works inside?
What are the files controlling the logging, that makes the tty to switch off and on again?

Note that if i log from the command prompt it works fine, it is only from the xfce4.

i have to add something else.

I created another user, and check out if i could logg in.
i couldn't. it seems that only root gets through, and any other user won't.

possible solution...? any recommendation???

my ideas and tell me if i'm right or wrong please!

install another x interface.

uninstall xfce4. reinstall it again.

Basicly... I feel curius bout what this matter is, if i reinstall it i won't never get know....it.
