I have 2 PCs (PC1 & PC2), and in PC1, I have below script :

wvdial PC2 &
sleep 45

I use above script to dial from PC1 to PC2. And the script works fine. But if the connection is unsuccessful (e.g line busy), wvdial will keep dialing and dialing.

Is there anyway that I can setup wvdial so that I can control how many times it retry or can I do it in the script itself ?

Please help.

Specifying 'Auto Reconnect = off' should stop it redialling. after that you can make your own script to limit the number of attempts, like sleeping and then pinging the remote address, and exiting a for loop if you recive a response.
