Question Wvdial help

I log in as root, then start wvdial. It dials up, then gets the part where says something like:
Starting ppp daemon
Then it just stops and sits. When I open a virtual terminal and try to telnet to some server, it's just as if I was never dialed up.
Please help!!!

--> Looks like a welcome message.
--> Starting pppd at Thu Oct 10 16:08:26 2002
--> pid of pppd: 153
These are the three last lines of a succesful WvDial dial-up.
It looks like pppd doesnt connect. Do you have a DNS in /etc/resolv.conf ? Also checks the logs, /var/log/syslog, /var/log/messages and /var/log/secure, syslog and messages should almost surely give you some clue on whats happening.
