Oh dear don't you know? Guess you haven't got Playonlinux on your desktop either. Switch to Linux Mint 19.1 and try it you might then agree with me that is racing ahead.
Guess you have no idea where to find the figures either.
Fedora is good but it does not make it easy to dual boot so I put that second.
Redhat was good a long time ago but then became paid for.
Ubuntu desktop is not as clean as as the cinnamon on mint so maybe this is second.
Please do not say slackware or Mac?
What do you think is the leader then?

Reason: Found he uses slackware

I'll say it again: There are no figures regarding the relative use of Linux distros.
There are however many sources that show that Windows is still king of the desktop. This is not expected to change in the near (or semi-distant, frankly) future.
I'm glad you've admitted, without actually saying so, that these are simply your opinions. To be honest, I'm a bit fed up of this growing tendency in the modern world for people to express their opinions as facts.

Of course Windows is first but is threatened by Linux and Mac as the Click showed.
The figures I refer to are just for Linux distros sorry you could not understand that.
If you do not want your data to be read and used as they like in the Windows agreement then you need the security of Linux.
Oh you don't see it as a fact I do. I do not believe either there are no figures but I could be wrong.
I think the greater number of Youtube videos for Linux Mint and the quality does not convince me that Mint is really a hot property.
I am really not going to name a distro here because:
one should define "leader" first. Is it by its downloads, community members, available packages, development cycles, internet search results...?
and anyway, this discussion would end in countless factional squabbles, trolls and so on...
So I will just say that no matter which "leader" people are talking about, the only one that really matters is the one that you like to use and that allows you to do what you expect from your computer.

Sorry, it was my friend who told me about it. I have searched iplayer click (only available in the UK) and have not found it I will ask him again which episode.
He did say he saw it was on the World service though and last week. If anybody finds it please let me know.

So, just to clarify, when you say that "Windows is first but is threatened by Linux and Mac as the Click showed", you haven't actually watched the relevant Click episode yet, you're just taking your friend's word on it?
Notwithstanding the fact that "being threatened by" is a step down from "being overtaken by" (albeit I still disagree with even that).
I too would be interested in watching this very revelatory Click episode to see what it actually claims/states.

I have no reason to disbelieve my friend for years he would not touch Linux with a barge pole. After the program he now is installing Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa
He repairs laptops and was selling Windows programs. He spent a lot of time cleaning virus from Windows machines so he did profit a lot from windows just like microsoft does in allowing the virus in the first place.
I have just emailed him with the latest Youtube I think the first on 19.1 many on 19 have a look pity he did not use the cinnamon desktop though:
