which latest linux version is steable


Hi Everybody

Can you let me know which linux (Fedora) version is steable.

I want to buy a cd or a licence copy and install and configure the same.

Fedora is a free (as in cost as well as in speech) distro so you don't have to buy it. The latest version is 7, if you are looking to be less cutting edge, go for 6.

If this is to be used in a production environment, I would suggest using RedHat or CentOS as they are far more tried tested and stable.

I heard that FC4 is very steable. Is it true ?

I would just use the latest release. Fedora Core 4 will reach its end of life soon so I wouldn't bother using it on a new installation.

Actually, all of the more popular modern distros are very stable. I have been running Ubuntu and its various cousins and I rarely have a serious issue.
