Question What is X-11?

I was on Tucows Linux site and saw a lot of referances to X-11. Does anyone here know what X-11 is or what it refers to?

X11 is the graphical portion of Linux and other *nix environments. It is referred to as X, X11, X11R6, XFree86, X Windows and X Windowing System with (almost) equal regularity, although strickly speaking 'X Windows' is incorrect (I think). For more details, either search the boards (I'm sure there's been at least one discussion on the whys and wherefores of X ) or goto www.xfree86.org
