Kde does it

Otherwise, you need to modify your /boot/grub/menu.lst, replace "default" by the place where windows is in this file and then put the timeout to 0. And then you won't be able to boot to anything else than windows unless you are very good with your keyboard ...

Ohh.. I see I was with Suse 10.1 with KDE interface and it had that kind of button. Now I'm under Gnome and I was really using that button. I dont want to boot to windows by default I just want a button that gonna reboot to windows from my linux mint cassandra with gnome interface.

You could write a small script which would edit /boot/grub/menu.lst to boot Windows by default and then issue a "reboot" command. This script could be linked to an icon in a panel in the GUI. Then you could install ext2fsd on the Windows box and write a similar script to take you back to Linux.

More trouble than it's worth?? Perhaps...

One day I went into the university of a friend and he brought me to the computer room. When starting the computer I saw some lines which reminded me of lilo. XP was then loading. They were using lilo for their bootloader. I restarted it again and typed very quickly "linux single". After a few restarts, I don't know how, I managed and linux started. tadaa...
The timeout was set to 0 (or maybe 1, can't remember). This was the lilo of 5 or 6 years ago...
