You wont find that right now. We have Xorg as big holdback. A graphicsserver that shipps a library called “libxfixes” should tell the whole story. Next freesync will come to linux somewhere in 2019 and as last part we have the desktops that also need to do some work. Like KWIN, is already at a point, where is can render everything smoothly in not just 60fps, but also higher. while gnome is completely locked to 60fps. Even in 120Hz displays. No idea about other compositors.
So we’re working on linux desktop stuff, but it’s a long road to go. I’d say we’re at a WinXP stage right now, Vista when it comes to Gnome (maybe also KDE, but I dont know if wayland is fully usable in there by now)

so, Xorg is a pile of old, moldy and patched crap, we should all have switched to wayland years ago because gamers need more than 60fps.
i think the "microstuttering" this person talked about earlier is not at all the same as "screen tearing".
it is likely something only very l33t gamers can spot.
all in all, this reads like the final, exasperated answer of someone who already answered all your questions twice.
imagine going to a pub and asking:
- does this beer contain alcohol?
- yes.
- so, will it make me drunk?
- yes, duh.
- well you know the reason i'm asking is i heard things about the inferirority of beer and i think i experienced it myself. shouldn't i rather drink champagne, or stolichnaya?
this is the point where the "expert" launches into a long rant about how certain IPAs from certain microbreweries are much, much better, and nobody who takes beer seriously should drink the stuff served here.
that is the answer you were given.
