Webpage login issues

Has anyone run into an issue logging into websites? I have to log into CafePress and ePinions. Both are not even getting to the login screen.

Can you give us more info please? What browser, distro, javascript settings, etc. are you using? Are you having any other connectivity problems? Have you upgraded any software recently?

Distro: Ubuntu 7.1, Gutsy Gibbon
Browser: Firefox 2.0
Javascript settings: How do I check those?
Are you having any other connectivity problems? Just those two sites. I had a problem with connecting to a site related to my Router, but that was resolved.
Have you upgraded any software recently? No

To check the javascript settings, go to Edit / Preferences and select the Content tab. This is not likely to be the problem if the page won't even load. I can access both of those sites from Windows or Linux so at least they're up at the moment.

Have you tried using dig, ping, traceroute, or telnet from the command line? For example:
Code:
dig www.epinions.com
ping www.epinions.com
traceroute www.epinions.com
telnet www.epinions.com 80
All of those can be run from the command line and should indicate whether there's a network path between your PC and those hosts. I'm assuming you don't connect through a proxy server.

Javascript settings: only "Move or Resize existing windows."
dig returned a bunch of stuff, but since I'm not familiar with it, I don't know how to tell you what it says.

Ping transmitted 16 packets before I cancelled it, 16 were recieved

We've got a connection with the site. I can view the pages, I just have trouble logging in. On epinions, I enter the correct login info and it takes me back to the main page without logging in. I can do that over and over again with no luck.

CafePress give me an error page that reads:
We're Sorry, You've Encountered an Error!
You've received this message because of the following possibilities:

1. Slow Internet connectivity speed at this time
2. Server timed out due to heavy load or traffic
3. Data has been lost by your browser
4. Not all of the fields in the form were properly completed
5. Temporary server-side technical problem

Please try to submit previous page again. If the problem persists, please try to submit the page later or email Customer Service. We will work to correct the problem as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience.
None of the above apply, so I'm stuck. And I'm almost positive if I were to contact Cust Svc, they would try to tell me it was because of Linux.

Since there isn't an obvious (to me anyway) source of the problem, if you have time I'd go back to general trouble shooting.

If you create another user account and try to connect, does the same thing occur? If not, it's probably config. If it still happens, it could be network related. Have you used wireshark? You could use it to sniff the packets and see what is happening to your network traffic.
