want to migrate from 60GB to 80GB drive using Ghost 2003

My goal is to migrate a working KnoppMyth installation to a bigger hard drive.

The web pages I've read say that early versions of Ghost can't copy Linux hard drives, but version 8 and higher can. I think Ghost 2003 is version 8.0 or 8.5. So, it's reported to work. Great!

So, I cloned the 60GB KnoppMyth drive to an 80GB drive and all seemed to copy ok.

The clone is done and LILO is screwed up on the clone. At boot, the screen reads "99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99" instead of LILO bla.bla.bla.

So, what's the deal? How do I fix LILO on the cloned hard drive?

Is there boot disk I can download (like they have at www.bootdisk.com)?

Eric

you could boot a live linux CD and rerun Lilo to overwrite the MBR. Knoppix, Gentoo Minimal CD, there are hundreds of live discs.

More detailed:
Boot the live disk
mount all the clone's partition
chroot in to the close
env-update to change environments
run lilo
exit the chroot
umount the partitions
reboot and remove the cd

got it to work

The clone hard drive made with Ghost 2003 booted fine after fixing LILO.
I used the Ultimate Boot CD to boot the computer - I chose "Tom's boot disk" from the UBCD menu.

Here's the summarized procedure:

- Cloned drive 1 to drive 2 with Ghost 2003 - resizing partitions
- I Booted with UBCD
- Mounted the new hard drive as hdb1
- chroot to the new drive's root partition
- lilo -v
- moved drive 2 to be the master hard drive
- rebooted and all worked

Thanks for the clues.

Eric
