virtualbox and windows 98: hang on "Copying files needed for setup"

Hi,

I am running Debian Stable and on the virtualbox, a very simple install of Windows 98 results in hanging while the very first steps of installation, just after formatting the disk and starting as shown in the pic.

What to do?

Thank in advance

OK, I unchecked the VT/AMD and it could be installed.

Now, ... , another problem. Impossible to get more than 16 colors, although I downloaded and selected virtualbox from the vbe hack driver.

here I attach you the rar of the drivers (iso format).

I got it to work by
- using hte 2008 vbe drivers UNI version!! the 2010 version DOES NOT work
- for the CDrom I used (changed) to Secondary-Nape Primary one of it

ok, so now, how to fix this enormous CPU usage of 105%?????

It has been a while, but when I had Win98 running in VirtualBox, I installed rain (google for rain20.zip) to provide a CPU halt function (not implemented in Win98 by default). This information came from the VirtualBox website at the time.
You have a working video driver (I installed vbemp).
For a sound driver I installed VXD_398.

Thank you very much. I have all now working.

I had to use:
- into the config sb16 and windows does installs it automatically.

- I downloaded rain10.zip, genisoimage, and then rebooted and open the cdrom and created c:/rain and copied into, and then launch the install.
With rain (blue drops on the icon), you can reduce the cpu usage from 104pct to 40pct which is visible with linux htop.

this video helped me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y14uAC1GVfM
