Virtual terminal problem under kernel2.6.7

After having compiled and installed the 2.6.7 Kernel, i have problem with Terminals.
At the boot, no messages are displayed, boot sequence is OK but the only thing i see is the prompt cursor moving. I have to guess what is writen on the screen. So i log in and enter my password, then start serverx (startx). Then i can use the graphical interface and use many shell properly. But when i do a ctrl+alt+Fx there are no carac displayed, i only see the prompt.
Any ideas ?

check /etc/issue file to see if it specifies a login prompt. Then go to a terminal and do 'ps -A|grep mingetty' to see if mingetty is running. Then do a 'ps -A|grep login' to see if login is running. once you login do you have a prompt? and if so can you see what you type?
thanx

Always the same

I tried what you told me to do. I have an empty /etc/issue file, and ps -A | grep mingetty an ps -A | grep login commands tell nothing. I wanted to say that under 2.6.5 terminals worked fine. I have compared both kernel conf files (2.6.5 Vs 2.6.7) and i do not see what is missing in my new kernel.

Thank you
