vga=773, splash=notworking

Hello,

I was wondering if it was pssible to have my screen 1024x7**. The answer is yes. I was also wondering if it was pssible to change my ungly bottsplash... YES.

So here's the story. I installed some themes for my bootsplash, and activated one, "linux". Very nice.
I check my consoles and want them to change resolution from 800x600 to 1024x7**. I research and found an answer and change /etc/lilo.conf to this:

boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
vga=773
default="linux"
keytable=/boot/us.klt
compact
prompt
nowarn
timeout=100
message=/boot/message
menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="linux"
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda6 splash=silent hdclun=0"
vga=773
read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="linux-nonfb"
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda6"
read-only
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="failsafe"
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="failsafe devfs=nomount hdc=ide-scsi acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda6"
read-only
other=/dev/hda2
label="windows"
table=/dev/hda

BUT, now I lost my beloved bootsplash , I try reactivating is with the command provided with the bootsplash package (using ./switchtheme linux in /usr/share/bootsplash/scripts) and still shows an UGLIER bootsplash!

Suggestions? Running linux mandrak 9.2 with kernel 2.4

THanks in advance!

Did you recreate your ram disk with the new image?

I did nothing, a script in the bootsplash 2.00 package did it all for me. the script is called switch-theme in /usr/share/bootsplash. For the /etc/lilo.conf, no, I just edited it and then I saved and that's all. What should have I done?

Do you reckon you could explain what you did to get it to work so searchers can maybe fix their own problems? :)

Just a quick explanation would be great.

Talking sure, why not...

ok

add this line:
Code:
vga=791
right after
Code:
compact
in /etc/lilo.conf

then goto a console and type
Code:
cd /sbin
su
./lilo -v
make sure you switch bootsplash using the command provided in , on the disk, the command is mentionned in my previous post (I think).
