Unmounting remote filesystems?

When I reboot or shutdown my system hangs for about 10 seconds on " Unmounting remote filesystems " what does that mean and how can I speed that up? Thanks

Are you actually unmounting remote filesystems? Linux, like most unixes, tends to assume that you're hooked up that way. Providing that you're just shuting down automatically (where your computer powers down the monitor/printer, computer), it's not worth the effort. If it's important, it wouldn't hurt to check out the man pages for the filesystems in question, and the mount pages as well.

I dont know, If you mean purposely no. I just run the default Slack boot and shutdown except with auto shutdown and when it shuts down or reboots I get unmounting remote filesystem but is that referring to a filesystem on my computer?
