Uninstalling Gnome

Okay, this thread has been started a few times, but I can't just remove every package that's called gnome - because I have been told that KDE uses some Gnome packages - is that true?
So how can I safely uninstall Gnome - without having a smashed KDE afterwards? Unfortunately, there is no hint in the manuals of Gnome itself.

Thanks.

if you have yum, then as root:
Code:
yum groupremove "GNOME Desktop Environment"
if KDE doesn't work after that then either try to update/re-install KDE
Code:
yum groupupdate "KDE (K Desktop Environment)"

yum groupinstall "KDE (K Desktop Environment)"
or decide it's not worth and just re-install Gnome.
Code:
yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"
Either way, update us and tell us how it went.

he's using according to his profile...

Suse uses Yast i believe (never used it) but you should be able to add/remove programs from that. it should also tell you what it's a dependency for (i cant imagine KDE apps needing gnome libs. that'd mean you'd have to have both installed to use gnome...)
