Unhappy Unable to Mount CDROM and Floppy in Mdk 9.1

Hi,

I am unable to mount my CDROM and floppy. When I open the consol and type "mount mnt/cdrom/" I get "mount : can't find /mnt/cdrom in /etc/ftsab or /etc/mtab". I'm a newbie and have just installed Linux, please assist.

By the way, does Mandrake Linux automatically mount a CDROM for you and make an icon appear on the desktop like in Mac OS X?

-Thanks, Tachyio

Linux uses supermount to do what you described in a similar fashion to Mac. Supermount is, however, known to give problems. You can disable it with: supermount -i disable
And then try and manually mount your drives. If this doesn't work, open up /etc/fstab and make sure your drives are setup is the fstab.
