I downloaded Azureus but whenever I run the app it doesn't come up properly and this stupid warning box appears at the right hand side of the screen that I cannot get rid of because the buttons on it dont even work.
I killed the PID of azureus and the box remained behind, and i'm currently using a fresh desktop and all my important stuff is on another desktop (currently its yum updating so i can't just shutdown). So what I need to know is first of all, is an updated version of JavaRE installed in FC5? (cause that might be why azureus is acting strange) And secondly is there a key shortcut command to switch desktops? I can't switch my desktop because the azureus warning box is blocking all the buttons.
i wouldnt know what version of java FC5 installs. is it even the Sun version? check it out with your package manager. you may need to download and install the real sun version, at java.sun.com.
if you run the program from a command line do you get any useful output regarding this problem?
you can use ctrl + alt + <number> to switch consoles.
The box is a Java window, you would have to kill the java process to get rid of it. It seems to be a bug in the newest version of Azureus, because the warning messages used to be closeable.
I'm running WindowMaker on Slackware and have the same problem, so it's not distribution related. What I usually do is if there are any warning messages, do whatever they say (update, shut down cleanly, whatever) and then restart Azureus. If it starts clean and there are no updates, you won't have any warning messages.
