Sup?
I've got a box with a Promise Technology Ultra ATA 66 controller card inside. It is my understanding that currently NO linux kernals support this crappy card, and if I ever wanna run linux in that box I will have to buy new gear.
Am I wrong here? Is there some kernal that does indeed support the card? If not, is there some workaround that I, as a technically astute n00b, could manage? Perhaps some spell I could cast, a prayer I could chant? Finally, can I expect a future version of the kernal to support the gear, or maybe for Promise to release linux drivers for it? And if so, when?
I realize i've got lots of questions, and any answers, comments, suggestions, assasination attempts, or offers to have my children will be chizz.
Try this:
Go to google.com and search on ATA 66 Support. Also look at UDMA. There is lots of stuff on the subject. I believe that ATA 66 support exists. Your problem will be to get it working. I am having a heckuva time getting ATA 100 understood and working.
