Angry Trying to reinstal windows without a floppy drive

Hi
I am running MDK 8.2. I used to have a win XP partition, but things went wrong so I wanted to delete everything and reinstall windows. Therefore, I have an empty partition at /dev/hda1...it's currently formated as win 95 FAT32, LBA. I thought that formatting it would make this partition bootable in dos mode, instead it gives some @#$#$#@ error. I can only boot from CD, but that doesn't seem to work either, although i've changed the boot settings in bios.

I'm guessing the question is, How do I transfer a system into the empty partition(sys d: c:) from linux, so I can have a dos system after i choose Windows in lilo menu.

This is the lilo.conf content:

boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
vga=normal
default=linux
keytable=/boot/us.klt
lba32
prompt
nowarn
timeout=100
message=/boot/message
menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw

image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=linux
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="quiet devfs=mount"
vga=788
read-only

image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=linux-nonfb
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="devfs=mount"
read-only

image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=failsafe
root=/dev/hda5
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="failsafe devfs=nomount"
read-only

other=/dev/hda1
label=windows
table=/dev/hda

other=/dev/hdc
label=cd

thank you

If you have completely formatted the XP partition, then you have only one way, i.e. boot from the installation cd. Otherwise, if you have not yet formatted the XP primary partition, the system can be restored using the startup disks, or rescue disks, though I am not familiar with that setup.
