I found one website that gave me some bits and pieces.
http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20040628#1
There was only one problem.....this has been written for a file system that I didn't have. Lacking reply's to this thread I plunged in.
I have ext2 files system. I executed these commands.
I browsed to this location: mnt/cdrom/testing/packages/linux-2.6.7
and did this: installpkg kernel-generic-2.6.7-i486-1.tgz
Then I edited my /etc/lilo.conf files putting this in:
image = /boot/vmlinuz-generic-2.6.7
root = /dev/hdb3
label = Linux-2.6
read-only
now the machine boots....and when I login it looks like it's using kernal 4.6.7 however I have no network connectivity
Any suggestions???? I have no idea what to do....I'm sure I need to recompile something....or edit some files....but not sure which or how.
Thanks
Lance
