I found one website that gave me some bits and pieces.

There was only one problem.....this has been written for a file system that I didn't have. Lacking reply's to this thread I plunged in.

I have ext2 files system. I executed these commands.

I browsed to this location: mnt/cdrom/testing/packages/linux-2.6.7
and did this: installpkg kernel-generic-2.6.7-i486-1.tgz

Then I edited my /etc/lilo.conf files putting this in:
image = /boot/vmlinuz-generic-2.6.7
root = /dev/hdb3
label = Linux-2.6
read-only

now the machine boots....and when I login it looks like it's using kernal 4.6.7 however I have no network connectivity

Any suggestions???? I have no idea what to do....I'm sure I need to recompile something....or edit some files....but not sure which or how.
