trailing slash in Apache gives 404 errors

Hi. I have upgraded to a new version of Apache (2.0) from version 1.3 and now for some reason, when I do a request like this:

http://mysite.com/test.php/

it gives 404 not found errors where before it still was able to call test.php without any problem. I need to have the trailing slash because that is how I call my session information...

http://mysite.com/test.php/session2/3209302202/

Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I have search around, but couldn't find anything for this specific problem...only for if you forget to put a slash on the end but that is not the same problem.

THanks!

it doesn't matter if it's a php page or any page (html, txt). I checked into that to rule it out, but it appears to be an Apache issue.

there is some option that enables or disables this trailing slash problem in httpd.conf but I don't really recall what exactly it was. it has something to do with document root or something. If you put /var/www/ or /var/www it makes a difference. I think it is that.

I appreciate your help, but that it does not appear to be the problem here

I do not have trailing slashes in the config...I have all of them like this:

/home/user/public_html
