Suse Noob question

I am going to install suse 9.0 home that i bought last week.
I was wondering if i could install the entire thing on my hard drive then
if i didn't like it or wanted xp back, could i uninstall it and then reinstall xp?

I have just heard crazy things about partitions and stuff.
And i do not own Partition magic.

I was looking at the yast last night before bed and all that partition stuff scared me off.
So i would just like to jump right into it and forgot about xp for a while.

And also i have an extra HD(unconnected) that is fat32 with mp3's and divx movies, can i hook it up to the new Suse box so i can access those files from Suse?

Thanks for listening,
any help would be appreciated.

-Jake

ps, oh yeah previous experience with linux has been two versions of knoppix and i tried phlak.

The SuSE installer should give you the option to automatically create a new partition without removing XP, at least this is my understanding. I've only done partition setup with PM, though, so I'm not positive.

For the second question, yes. SuSE will probably do the work for you, and you'll end up with your second partition mounted at /mnt/windows (or something similar)

Thanks for the reply,
I don't really care if i have xp anymore, it's just that all my music is on my extra HD and want to be able to still play my mp3's on Suse.

My main drive is 20gb,ntfs

and my mp3, divx collection second drive is 60gb,fat32

I just want to install Suse on drive 1, and keep all my data seperate on my 2'nd drive.

I want to keep it seperate so if i ever get any extra bread I can buy an external case for it, and that's how I would like to treat that drive, as a completely seperate thing.

Thanks.
