Sound server problem

On the Gui startup I get "sound server fatal error: /tmp/mcop-***** not owned by user" Do I have to change permissions as root to get it working??

/tmp/mcop-username should be owned by the user it has in its name.

Ownership??
Yup okay, so /tmp/.mcop-***** isn't owned by the user, how can I make it owned by this user so he can have a working sound server?

Open console, cd to /tmp and then
chown username.username .mcop-******

Problem solved
I've tried your solution but even as root access was denied. So I've simply created another user and started again. Can I find my bookmarks somewhere?
