some questions about suse and yast

hi

i'm once again looking to switch distros, and i'm currently doing some reading on suse,. could anyone share their expierences? and most importantly how does YAST function? is it like gentoo's emerge, or debian's apt-get or is it more like RH's up2date. what is important for me is to able to update packages on the fly

thank you all in advance

YAST (yet another setup tool) is not a package manager.
It is more of a system administration tool.
It used to work in a terminal but is now a GUI tool.
It has catigories you can choose to pick various tasks from.
The catagories are Software, Hardware, Network Devices, Security and Users, System, and Misc.
YOU (YAST online update) works nicely once you get a good mirror chosen but I would say apt-get is better.
Generally the tools work very well but config files by hand are of course more complete and fexable.
YAST is interesting, at least. You will have to decide if you like it or not yourself.
