Suse 8.0 Yast

After that I updated KDE to v. 3.1 the Yast icon under the sartmenu is gone and I am not sure where the file resides.

It can be started from a shell, thus:

# YaST2

but it would be more convenient to access it from th estartmenu.

Any sugegstions would be wellcome.

Make a symlink and put kdesu -- /sbin/yast2 menu in the command section under the execute tab. Or just go to file:/etc/opt/kde3/share/applnk/SuSE/Settings/YaST & drag YaST2.desktop to the desktop & choose copy here.
