Is glib the same thing as glibc or are they different libraries?
Also I have to upgrade my glib to 2.X.X for a program im installing.
Do I just install the new glib (./configure, make, make install ) or should I remove the old glibs first?
"Libc/libc5" usually refers to libc version 5, while "glibc" refers to libc version 6, they're major versions of the same C Library.
I wonder what wasn't clear in the answers to your previous thread about upgrading libs you have to post it again. Rule of thumb: libc5 to libc6: baaahhhhd (go back to start, recompile all apps), libc6 to libc6: ghhhooood (meaning minor upgrade).
glib isn't the same as glibc - glibc is an implementation of the C standard library (with extras) and glib is the base library unerlying Gtk+, GNOME, etc.
