Setting Up A Server

I am in the process of setting up a web server and I want to be able to have php run with ssl capability. I have downloaded apache 1.3.29, mod-ssl 2.18, and php-4.3.4. What is the correct order for me to install everything so that when I am done I have php installed as a DSO object capable of SSL connectivity?
