selecting particular OS on next reboot?

HI,

I have a couple linux distro and few windows boot on my home computer and is controlled remotely. Now, i wonder if there is a way i can make sure that next reboot will boot me into a particular OS i want other then just the top one of the menu list? I could change the boots in grub to get into windows on next reboot.
But once i am in windows , i dono how to get back to linux. Can anyone give me some idea of achieving selecting next boot-up os?

Thanks in advance

Your windows' stores its boot.ini and linux has grub. I know that when you have a linux win dual boot. Your mbr summons grub<linux list> then goes to your boot.ini depending on how its set up. As far as dual boots of linux/win I havent had much luck except at FC3.

If you're using ext2 or 3 for your Linux partition, then you could use the Windows drivers from http://www.fs-driver.org/ to edit the grub configuration.

You must not have seen my other post, or do the drivers not work?

i google around and found a really simple workaround.

servername# grub

grub> savedefault --default=2 --once
grub> quit

servername# shutdown -r now

THEN i am in windows now ^^

=====
NOTE:
=====
1) 2 is actually the 3rd item of my grub boot menu
2) --once mean it will only effect on next reboot
3) you need to change the default menu.lst (in debian its on /boot/grub/menu.lst or you can do it from grub just add sth liek (hd0) in front.

The parameter inside menu.lst need to change is 'default'. Chaning it from '0' to 'saved'. Then do the above step! It works like a charm

sorry pdeman2 , i was thinking its not possible to look up linux FS under windows... silly newbie thought :P I know there is a good chance that grub can achieve and lucky me it really does.

But the driver seems to be cool. I yet to tried it. Thanks for the help anyway, will try that cool driver soon ^^'
