I have Mandrake 8.2, which starts with a graphical login. Is there any way to take screenshot of the graphical login screen? I tried Printscreen key, but it does not work.

take a look here http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue80/nielsen3.html , you can follow the instructions in hte article and run import utility from a command line if you've enable Xterm to come up, or you can use many other graphical screenshot utilities

Thanks. I understand that there are XDM, GDM and KDM etc as login managers. How can I know which one is starting in my Mandrake 8.2 installation?

Hi
mandrakes default is usually kdm
do from a console less /etc/sysconfig/desktop
that returns the loginmanager and is also the
file to change it for another manager
all assuming u didn't tweak it so defaults
( /etc/inittab for inst. can point to other scripts afaik)
and i think from whithin the loginmanager itself
the answer also is there (about, help or config tab)
good luck
