Samba and Xp

I would like to get that clear.
Samba let me share directories and folders between Linux and Win 95 or 98.
1. Can i share directories and files if i'am using XP PRO with FAT partition?
2. Can i share directories and files if i'am using XP PRO with NTFS partition?
3. linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net is a projet for sharing ntfs with linux in the same box or within a network?
thks

Samba lets you share files and printers between linux and windows PC's over a network. It can be FAT32 or NTFS.

If on the same computer then linux can read but not write to NTFS. For sharing files read/write you can use FAT32.

The NTFS support you are refering to in question #3 is on the same computer. Some linux distros include it and some don't.

Windows sharing uses a protocol called SMB (hence the name Samba). It doesn't matter whether the original system in using FAT32, NTFS or GremlinFS, all the other computers on the network will see is an SMB filesystem for that machine.

The NTFS project allows you to mount NTFS partitions locally... say if you're dual-booting Linux with W2k, for instance. It has absolutely nothing to do with networking what-so-ever.
