linuxconf is for Mandrake only i think. If it is mandrake you are using do
whereis linuxconf
this will show you the dir where it is (in a bin somewhere)
sometiems when i was using mandrake I had to be in the dir to execute it. Also hitting tab 2x in command prompt will show u a list of commands so you can also check and see if its in there.
Linuxconf is for many distrobutions, but i prefer too use webmin myself. Linuxconf is a bit buggy sometimes and made pretty big screwups when i have used it.
Originally posted by juno I have newly install a linux , but can't run linuxconf, do I need to install any rpm ?
Yeah, linuxconf isn't installed by default by most distro's now due to its bugginess and being unstable. I would advise into looking into alternatives like webmin or maybe even hand configuration possibly.
What all is wrong with Linuxconf? I've used it for 3 years, and my only complaint is that it always tries to activate Lpr (even when the comp doesn't normally have it set to run). Is there something I should know?

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it does things like you specified and sometimes it doesn't. That's why most distro's don't include it now, its just not that stable and or reliable.
I am trynig to install linuxconf on mandrake 10 but cannot find the source files that will work. Can someone email me where I can get everything to get this to work .
