Mate, I have a question for you. I am posting here the question as it is mentioned in a sample test:
Decode the following encoded value:
4e620a0989895165d759fb55d5738813343d84fc
Let me help you here.
1. A straight answer is: Impossible
2. I still found an answer to it and I never studied Encryption and Decryption in school, college, and nor in any certification
But the encoded value would be decoded to a simple sentence.
You are a Guru here. Go, find the answer!
I have asked it on some other website and Impossible is the answer I got.
But that was not an impossible problem. I will share the answer with you here but not yet. You dig. Dig. And dig more on your own.
@TB0ne
Mate, I have a question for you. I am posting here the question as it is mentioned in a sample test:
I am not your 'mate'. And yet another 'interview' question??

Don't need your help with ANYTHING, and I doubt you can give it.

You didn't even know how it was encrypted, or what format the string was, and you had to guess.
It's a SHA1 hash. Very possible to break, but it takes time, and it's VERY easy to encrypt using simple tools. You *CLAIM* on that other site that you found the answer, but again (as here), say you don't want to post it. Yeah...it's the same thing children do in school: "Hey, what did you get for this answer? I know it, but I want to make sure YOU got it right", so that the other kid gives them the answers they can't figure out.
Seen it many times; this is no different. SHA1 hashing is only one way, and it is NOT impossible to break...just time consuming, and nothing that I'll waste my time with for someone like you.
You need to decrypt it 3 times to get the final Human Readable String.
I thought you knew it. Mate, you disappointed me this time. You see, you have so many years of experiences in so many technologies, and you are a Guru and you could solve the question in the same amount of time you bothered to look for my question on another website.
TB0ne, you see the message here? It does not feel good when you belittle others. I am just trying to help you see the other person's views too.
Enjoy! Don't lose your temper. This time it is not intended.
But if you care, is there a way to delete all my posts so that I can delete my profile for good from here? I see Mark Solved this or that post but not Delete. Did you guys forget to add the function?
Thanks for linking the other site here. I almost forgot the site name and didn't know if the pages of that site were so frequently updated to be shown in Google search results.
I will update that post right away because people think the question is impossible to be answered.
This is not the first time that guru has humiliated me. He has done that whenever he checked ou my posts. But this is the 2nd time I have opposed his rude behavior or racism. However, this time I went overboard.
I welcome your suggestion. But please do let all gurus know that if they don't get a thing according to their taste then they can simply oignore it. Nobody is hard pressed to answer any questions.
Thanks, @onebuck. Appreciate your reply post. I put this heated argument to an end from my side and hope I will not be humiliated in future here. Nobody else here has done that to me before.
@CRTS
That guy always is rude. There are many others who would ask for more details if they didn't get a question. But in every reply to my posts he has been adding my experiences and certificates and humiliating. In the last 8 years I have seen his bad comments and have not argued with him. But he has no limits. My limits of tolerating idiots are exhausted now. He undoes the purpose of discussion here. If he has a problem with my not being so knowledgeable then he must shut up.
No, you 'must' read the "Question Guidelines" and post a sensible question with relevant details. And since your 'limits of tolerating idiots are exhausted', you may wish to consider why it is you get the responses you get.

You report it to anybody. Report it to your nation's president too. I don't care. The fact remains same that you are an idiot. And this is my final warning for you as not to ever view my posts and leave your responses unless you have a good reason to do so. You are more than welcome if you ask for more details and encourage others to do more homework before posting here. But do not ever tell them that YOU wonder why their experiences and certificates show no wit here. Now I wonder how you might have grown up in a family. Do you have children? Do you talk to like this: You have attended schools and you must already know this and that? You leave no room for adding more knowledge. You don't even think about what the other person might be looking for. It may not be a question that needs an answer. It may be just for ensuring that what one is asking, he knows it and is double-checking it. Anyways, I am good. You won't change. But I must not have changed my tolerance capacity from 100 to 0. Your original response was appreciated. But the humiliation you put in there was not. It was unnecessary. Remove that part and your response deserves thanks.
No, thanks. Your behavior has been reported to the moderators and noted, so feel free to continue if you want. And don't throw out meaningless 'warnings', because you are not able to do ANYTHING to make that 'warning' have any meaning.

So another question; why doesn't your 'teammate' post their OWN questions, rather than having you do it for them???

So let's see; on your profile you list "M.Sc. IT, SCSA ITIL ITES". How many is that??? Is it more than one? Two? How many does it take for you to get to "many"?? And having certifications, again, doesn't disqualify someone from asking whatever they want. It *SHOULD*, however, mean that they ALREADY KNOW a good deal of things, and don't have to ask very simple questions. It should also mean that after asking someone for years to provide details over and over, that they DO IT without having to be asked. Understand???

I tried to get more details on the question as it is not my own question more have I directly faced it otherwise I would have strongly argued against it because crond does not fire past jobs. Anachron does that in case of the system unavailability. So, the question was not logical. It didn't surprise me. But still wanted to see if I was not the only one to have thought that way.
...and we get to post #15 before you actually provide details about the job. Where did you mention that it looks for a timestamp in any file(s)?? Where did you mention it loads anything to a MySQL database? Or how the 10 in the file name relates to the job???
Again, had you bothered to post these things after being asked the first time, you'd have then been asked about the database structure. Because, again, you CAN insert records using the before/after directive and manually insert a timestamp, so the file(s) WOULD go into the database in the right locations.

Yes...and time is the issue. Because as I told you very plainly, very possible to decrypt, but time consuming, and I won't waste my time on anything for someone like you.

I have never lost my temper with you; I don't care about you at all, one way or another.

Contact Jeremy and ask him to change your password to something you don't know. Or do that yourself, by typing in a bunch of junk, and copying/pasting it, and logging out.

No sorry..no one besides you seems to think it was impossible. and you need to keep this thread on topic, as onebuck told you.

Again, I am not your 'mate', and don't want to be. You have been told to stop that, and you persist; you have been told to provide details when asking questions, and don't. You have been asked questions which you don't answer.
Again, as you were told before to your 'impossible' question:
Modify log times
Modify log entries
Modify the mirrors (if they exist)
And, since you JUST NOW decided to give details about things, insert the records into the DB (this will depend on the table format)
Touch the file time if needed
And your 'impossible' job is done. Again, none of these things would be complicated in the least for someone with degrees/certifications/9 years experience. And they should all be self-explanatory as well.

You have been VERY rude many times in the past. And it's very interesting you want to play the 'racism' card...how are you doing that, by the way?? Do you know ANYTHING about me? Where I'm from, where my family is from, etc.?? Have I said ANYTHING about where you're from or made racist comments??? No...you want to play the victim. It's someone elses fault, right???? Can't be that you don't ask a clear question, or follow up with relevant details.
It goes from post #1 where you ask "how can we do this?"
To post #2 and 3, where you were asked for details (that you never provided)
To post #6, where you mention an 'interviewer'
To post #12, where you say this isn't even for YOU, but for a 'teammate' (who, for some reason, can't ask their own questions)
To (FINALLY) post #15, where you provide the first bit of details about the situation
But in post #15, you contradict yourself with post #1. Because you say
(post #1)Now, we need to run the job manually. However, we want to run it with the past date-time stamp, i.e. 10 AM in this case.
(post #15) because crond does not fire past jobs. Anachron does that in case of the system unavailability. So, the question was not logical
So post #1 says you want to run it manually; post #15 says you wanted to run it through cron. Both can't be true.
