rpm error in new kernel

Hi,

I have red hat linux machine.
I have just upgraded my kernel from 2.4 to 2.6
when i run the following rpm cmd in my new kernel (2.6), i get some errors.

$ rpm -qa

rpmdb: unable to join the environment
error: db4 error(11) from dbenv->open: Resource temporarily unavailable
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - Resource temporarily unavailable (11)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm

Can u suggest how to solve this error ?

Regards,
Sheetal.

Look for stale temp and lock files in the RPM dbdir (usually /var/lib/rpm). If removing them doesn't work, then the next thing I'd do is backup the RPM dbdir and do a --rebuild of the database.
