Segmentation Fault Error when trying to install kernel-source-2.4.2-2.i386.rpm

As i understand it, in order to recompile the kernel, you must have the source code resident on your HD. I am trying to install the kernel-source-2.4.2-2.i386.rpm onto my /home/ directory

Here's what I get:
-------------------------------------------------
[root@localhost /root]# rpm -ivh /home/kernel-source-2.4.2-2.i386.rpm
Preparing... Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[root@localhost /root]#
--------------------------------------------------

How do I fix this?

Dont know how to fix it, but why dont you try the tarball instead? If you really want the rpm (tho it wouldnt matter, its a src rpm, right?) 1. check the md5sum, see if it downloaded ok, 2. check your RPM version or 3. use rpmunpack (freshmeat.net me thinks).
