rm -rf * , want to undo this


I have deleted some important files in linux.
i m working on fedora core 4.
I issued "rm -rf *"

now want to retrieve them.
help me..

Not an easy thing to do.

I would suggest you stop using your workstation immediately.

Jump onto a different workstation and google "linux undelete" ... you will find many articles on this issue.

The easiest option is to restore from a backup. However, if you did not have a backup, or at least not a current one, any undelete would be based on the filesystem: ext2? ext3? reiser?

How did you manage to do rm -rf *? my friend did that to me once as root. :'(

LOL same happened to me ,, i stuffed up my trainers workstation by issuing a simple command which just toook a second to run,,,

root: rm -rf *

ooooops!!

dnt wanna do this mistake again,,,
