How to undo this?

Hi

I make a mistake while updating some Server components. I typed up2date gdm (I believed it was a network - related service). Now, I believe it is not needed for a Web Server box (even located at another state facility)..

The up2date installed lot of stuff I think add unneccessary overhead to the server:

Here is the screen:
gdm-2.4.1.3-5.1.i386.rpm: ########################## Done.
librsvg2-2.2.3-1.i386.rpm: ########################## Done.
libgsf-1.6.0-4.i386.rpm: ########################## Done.
xsri-2.1.0-5.i386.rpm: ########################## Done.
xinitrc-3.32-1.noarch.rpm: ########################## Done.
XFree86-4.3.0-2.i386.rpm: ########################## Done.
chkfontpath-1.9.7-1.i386.rp ########################## Done.
redhat-artwork-0.73-1.i386. ########################## Done.
XFree86-xfs-4.3.0-2.i386.rp ########################## Done.
ttmkfdir-3.0.9-1.i386.rpm: ########################## Done.
XFree86-font-utils-4.3.0-2. ########################## Done.
XFree86-base-fonts-4.3.0-2. ########################## Done.
XFree86-xauth-4.3.0-2.i386. ########################## Done.
Glide3-20010520-25.i386.rpm ########################## Done.
switchdesk-3.9.8-15.i386.rp ########################## Done.
desktop-file-utils-0.3-5.i3 ########################## Done.
scrollkeeper-0.3.11-3.i386. ########################## Done.
intltool-0.25-2.i386.rpm: ########################## Done.
docbook-dtds-1.0-17.noarch. ########################## Done.
xml-common-0.6.3-14.noarch. ########################## Done.
openjade-1.3.1-12.i386.rpm: ########################## Done.

I have KDE on that machine because one application. How I should remove this stuff without breaking the box? What stuff could be required by KDE?

I repeat this is a WebServer box no applications is served...'

I could try rpm -e application... Any ideas?

TIA

Ok

I rpm -e one by one in that order, whenever it complained about dependencies I rpm -e with the applications

Hope It dont' breaks anything else... Will not reboot until someone knowleable here tell me it should be safe...

Are you running Red Hat? If so, what version?

GDM is Gnome's graphical login program. It basically makes your computer show a pretty login page instead of plain ol' drab black and white text. As far as up2date, run it as often as possible, it will install updated modules that HAD security or other issues with it, leave the packages there, trust me, your better off. If you want to relieve overhead, go into your system tools or system settings (I forget which), and look for "Services" and start unchecking serices AFTER you look up and see what they are, if you don't think you need them. Reboot, and overhead will be greatly reduced.
