Just wanted to know if its possible to remove a /dev label on the fly. For instance is it possible to remove /dev/scd using the rm command? Is it bad bad for the file system?

any word on this would be great

If you want a working system, it's best to not touch the /dev directory. If you want to remove something from there, recompile the kernel and unselect uneeded devices.
