redhat 9 hanging up scsi0?
hey all, i recently upgraded my kernel to 2.4.20-20.9, im runing redhat 9. ever since then my system randomly hangs, appearing frozen for about 10-15 seconds and then returns to normal, when checking mylog this is what i found:
Dec 7 16:09:44 localhost kernel: scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 320311, scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Request Sense 00 00 00 40 00
Dec 7 16:09:44 localhost kernel: hdd: lost interrupt
Dec 7 16:09:44 localhost kernel: scsi0 channel 0 : resetting for second half of retries.
Dec 7 16:09:44 localhost kernel: SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0.
Dec 7 16:09:44 localhost kernel: sr0: CDROM (ioctl) error, command: Test Unit Ready 00 00 00 00 00
Dec 7 16:09:44 localhost kernel: sr00:00: old sense key None
Dec 7 16:09:44 localhost kernel: Non-extended sense class 0 code 0x0
i have a sony crx175a cdrw drive, that is ide, but runs on scsi emulation:
scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices
Vendor: SONY Model: CD-RW CRX175A Rev: 1.0h
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
is there a major purpose to this, why cant i just have it as a ide drive, or is this even the reason my system is hanging at all. its not crippling because it only lasts a few seconds but its getting really annoying. any help is, as always, greatly appreciated. TIA!
