quota problem with nfs

Dear All,

I have the same problem as in the following thread(quota isn't working when it's nfs-mounted). I
can solve my problem as described in the thread, but I
don't understand the meaning of doing that.

If I run echo 0xfeffffff > /proc/sys/kernel/cap-bound
what will it affect to the entire system? I have mail
server and AV running on my machine. I'm afraid it
causes problem to other programs.

http://cert.uni-stuttgart.de/archive.../msg00100.html

I'm using SuSe 8.0.
pls advise.
Thanks,
Stand

Please don't post links to your questions to other forums or mailing lists, its just simply lazy. If you want help here, cut, copy and paste your whole question here, you will get better responses.

Regards.
