Problem With Apache Access

I'm running Gentoo and did the setup for MediaWiki. For some reason, when I try to access http://10.10.2.202/mediawiki I get a prompt asking me for a login. I've tried everything and it doesn't work. If I just go to the root, it's fine and just shows the standard Apache index page. I've checked for .htaccess and there was none. So I added .htaccess to the mediawiki directory. All it has is:
allow from 10.10 but that still doesn't work.

What's going on?

Thanks.

If it has a .htaccess and .htpasswd setup, you need to add users and passwords to the .htpasswd file to grant yourself and users access..
