Post sarge -> etch minor upgrade problems

Upgrading from 'sarge' to 'etch' was mostly successful(!!!), but a couple of things need to be addressed:

(1) vi - My vi settings have been superseded & I'm not sure how to get them back for the same screen options, colors, etc. Any clues? I have of course backups for all the settings files which were in /etc & /usr. in my env, $TERM=xterm.

(2) During the upgrade (saved in a script file) I received msgs such as:

aptitude: /xilinx/bin/lin/libgcc_s.so.1: version `GCC_4.2.0' not found (required by /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6)

I now see the same msg when I try to display a man page. Do I install/configure GCC_3.3 separately? I don't know anything about these packages.

Thanks,
-Ron

Ah -- never mind on problem #2 - based on a tip elsewhere, I renamed the file:

mv libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so.1.old

& the problem went away... so far.
