PHP5 FastCGI session errors (Permission Denied)

Hi all

I've just compiled PHP5 as a FCGI module on my Debian server, running alongside PHP4. Everything working, except when I start sessions. As soon as I do that, I get a "Permission denied(13)" error while PHP tries to read/write the session to /var/lib/php5.

I've tried changing the permissions and ownership of the directory, but the server just throws a 500 (internal error) message when I do that.

I've also tried setting the session.path to /tmp, which again throws a 500 error.

Any ideas on how to get things working?

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
