Angry partitions destroyed by windows ...

hello everybody !

as u can probably guess I have a "little" problem ... I have 2 OS installed on my computer .. windowsXP and slackware 9.1 ... and because the windows-half of my system did really work any more (suprise !!!) I decided to reinstall windows ... well ... it worked well ... I deleted my old windows partitions and recreated them (same size as before) ...well .. no problems with the windows installation ... but now my slackware partitions are gone ... I tryed booting from the setup CD but it wouldn't work ... so I booted Knoppix from CD and started first cfdisk and since that wouldn't show me anything ... I tryed running qtparted .. which crashed immediatly leaving me with a message about some "overlapping partitions" ... so ...
is there ANY way to get my old slackware running again .. coz that's where I stored the backup of all my important windows files ... (something I wont do again !)

thanks for your help
Goo !

I don't exactly think so (take in mind that I'm new at Linux). But due to the overlapping partitions error, I highly doubt it.

You're not in a good situation at all.

From what I read, you can't even see the Slack partitions, meaning that, most likely, the partition table and the disk's actual paritions don't agree with one another. This has most likely screwed the Slack partitions up beyond repair. Fubar, as they say. I wouldn't recommend you use the current WinXP install either. With the partition table screwed up like it is, I have to recommend you wipe the whole rig clean and start afresh.

Sorry to put it like that.
